North Africa Hospital Holdings (Egypt, Tunisia)

In 2014, we created North Africa Hospital Holdings in partnership with DEG, EBRD and Proparco. The Company is a healthcare holding company, incorporated in Malta as Creed Healthcare Holdco Ltd and established to own and operate hospitals in Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, and Algeria. The Company benefits from our strong track record in healthcare, and has improved standards of medical treatment through international accreditation, ‎upgrade of medical and diagnostics equipment, and implementation of more advanced patient management and records systems, in a region suffering from an undersupply of quality healthcare. The Company's two subsidiaries are Taoufik Hospitals Group in Tunisia and Cleopatra Hospitals Group in Egypt, which treat annually over 1 million patients per year. www.nahhg.com

Cleopatra Hospital Group (Egypt)

In 2014, we made our first foray in the Egyptian hospital sector by acquiring Cleopatra Hospital Company, followed by the acquisition of Cairo Specialist Hospital. In 2015 and 2016 we acquired two other hospitals in Greater Cairo, Nile Badrawi Hospital and Al Shorouk Hospital. We listed Cleopatra Hospitals Group (CHG) on the Egyptian Stock Exchange in 2016, raising capital to invest in CHG's expansion. CHG today is the largest private hospital group in Egypt and North Africa. Taoufik Hospital Group (Tunisia)

In 2014, we made our first foray in the Tunisian hospital sector by acquiring Taoufik Hospital, followed by the acquisition of La Soukra Hospital. We opened the brownfield Ezzahra Hospital in 2017 adding our third hospital in the capital Tunis. In 2018 we acquired our fourth hospital Hannibal Hospital. Taoufik Hospitals Group (THG) today is the largest hospital group in Tunisia. Taaleem (Egypt)

In 2015, we created Taaleem, partnering with Proparco and other co-investors to contribute to the development of accessible private education facilities in Egypt, where high-quality education provision is structurally in deficit and private alternatives are scarce and expensive in addition to helping to create jobs in Egypt. Our investment in Taaleem and acquisition of Nahda University Bani Suef (NUB) led to the creation of Upper Egypt's leading higher education group, and supported the institutionalization of the sector, while improving education provision and graduate employability. In 2019 we inaugurated NUB's Medical University, the first private medical university in Upper Egypt in cooperation with the Medical University of Vienna. www.nub.edu.eg

ODM (Morocco)

In 2015 we created Group Oncologie & Diagnostic du Maroc, the largest private oncology and diagnostics business in Morocco through the sequential roll up acquisition of oncology clinics between 2015 and 2018, in partnership with a leading Moroccan entrepreneur. The Company has benefited from our strong track record in healthcare, and has improved standards of medical treatment through international accreditation, ‎upgrade of radiotherapy and diagnostics equipment, and implementation of more advanced patient management and records systems, in a region suffering from an undersupply of quality healthcare. We also expanded the medical service offering to include brachytherapy, iodine therapy, and nuclear therapy. CIRA (Egypt)

In 2014, we partnered with a pioneering Egyptian family with deep roots in education to invest growth capital in CIRA, the largest integrated provider of educational services in the Egyptian private sector with 19 schools and over >20,000 students. Prior to our exit, CIRA introduced two new K12 blended experiential learning campuses, expanded CIRA's extensive teacher training and career development program and inaugurated Egypt’s fastest growing private university. cairoinvest-ir.com

Saham Insurance (Morocco)

In 2011 we partnered with a leading Moroccan businessman to grow his Moroccan insurance subsidiary into one of Africa’s largest insurance companies. We invested growth capital to fund a number of add-on acquisitions in Sub-Saharan Africa and expand the company's reach across the continent. In the process we improved the access of insurance products from general insurance to health insurance to a large number of African countries. At our exit, Saham was one of the largest pan-African insurance groups, operating 31 insurance and reinsurance subsidiaries in 26 countries in Africa and the Middle East with a network of over 650 branches, a staff complement of more than 3000 people, and a consolidated turnover of over $1 billion. www.sahamassurance.ma

Integrated Diagnostics Holdings (Egypt)

In 2010, we created IDH through a rollup of six diagnostic lab acquisitions to become the leading MENA medical diagnostics business. Under our ownership we expanded the IDH network by 300%, reaching over 300 branches and improving accessibility and expanding medical diagnostics access to remote and underserved areas in Egypt, Sudan and Jordan. IDH also invested in Egypt’s largest automated lab and one of the region’s key providers of diagnostic information services, offering unparalleled breadth and innovation to become the only College of American Pathologists accredited lab in Egypt. www.idhcorp.com
